
The Nursery class offers a
flexible part-time or full-time introduction to the Minster School, dependent upon the
needs of each child.
Within a caring, creative and imaginative environment, the children learn social co-operation and self-awareness. The bright, stimulating Nursery encourages children to develop enquiring minds and positive attitudes to learning. Our children are purposeful and happy as they are given opportunities to develop their concentration and communication skills and to explore and discover for themselves. Free play is balanced with focused activities and an increasing emphasis on numeracy and literacy.
The Early Years education programme
is based on the National Curriculum for the foundation stage. Through careful planning of
daily activities, assessing each childs achievements and planning his or her next
steps, we enable the children to develop their skills and concepts in each of the six
areas of learning whilst maintaining a child-centred approach. The six areas of learning

To have fun, to enjoy, to experience excitement and a sense of wonder are important aspects of Nursery philosophy and curriculum. The children look forward to coming to Nursery with eagerness and, by the end of the year, anticipate their move to the Reception class with confidence. We have an excellent working relationship with parents and carers who are welcomed and encouraged as partners in their childs education. Good communication and liaison between home and school ensure a smooth transition into the Lower School.
